Position Summary

Reporting to the Information Systems Director, the Data & Analytics Manager will lead a newly formed team in the development and execution of various data science methods with the goal of supporting our operational programs with both historical and predictive reports and analysis. This is a working manager position where the person will be required to both supervise team members and work alongside them on projects.

Essential Functions

  • Build and lead a strong data team that meets the varied needs and deadlines of the different RISE programs
  • Use multi-sourced data to produce descriptive and predictive analyses to optimize our programs and objectives
  • Assist in the definition and implementation of end-to-end programs for metrics creation, data collection, database development, reporting, and data modeling
  • Lead the work with an equity lens- ensure RISE uses data and analytics to foster more equitable training and benefit delivery outcomes
  • Perform advanced analyses to understand and explain trends and drivers of key metrics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define problem statements, access and manipulate data, build analytical models, explain data-gathering requirements, deliver analytics insights, and make recommendations
  • Define, compute, track, and continuously validate business metrics with descriptive and predictive analysis
  • Identify and implement structured processes for data reporting and communication, and use analytical models to identify insights to drive key decisions across leadership and the organization
  • Provide mentorship to other members of the team and the organization on the best methodologies for design, implementation, and testing of analytics insights
  • Use tools like R, Tableau, Python, and SQL to drive efficient analytics
  • Acquire general understanding of business units
  • Work with external partners and vendors
  • Meet with technical and non-technical stakeholders to elicit and clearly capture user needs and requirements
  • Administer technologies and software
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of department policies and procedures
  • Train staff on new technologies and software

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excel Expert
  • Advanced SQL
  • Demonstrable experience using data science tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Python and SQL and have the ability to train others on their use
  • Exceptional ability to communicate verbally and in writing with both technical and non- technical team members across all levels of the organization
  • Acute attention to detail and understanding of how data relates to larger initiatives
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Self-motivated
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Knowledge or experience with ETL preferred
  • Ability to coach and train team members in use of tools and methods
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to support RISE’s organizational values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Equity in the development and delivery of your work  including demonstrated positive
    interactions with staff, vendors, the consumers we support, and other organizational stakeholders

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in Business Analytics or Advanced Analytics
  • 3 years’ experience managing or supervising the work of others
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Decision Science Operations
  • Research, Applied Math, or other quantitative discipline
  • Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or equivalent relevant job experience

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supervising other staff members.
