Position Summary

Reporting to the State Worker Trust Program Manager, the Training and Education Coordinator will be part of a team of professionals who help deliver the benefits of labor-management Trust and coordinate training on wellness, benefits and equity education, provide access to, and knowledge of wellness, benefits and equity activities, seminars and events to state employees and other areas of training as developed. The Training and Education Coordinator will work with our team to deliver workshops and training and will have the most direct engagement with state workers. This position will work collaboratively with internal leadership as well as external stakeholders to design, build, enhance and scale brand-new and existing curriculum for state employees. The individual in this role will employ adult learning and training methodologies to develop effective, equitable and engaging instructional materials for instructor-led, self-directed, virtual classroom, web-based, and/or blended learning platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of a team focused on developing and delivering equitable training to and upskilling a diverse workforce of state employees across the State of Oregon.

Essential Functions

  • In consultation with the Program Manager, manages the design, development, and delivery of online courses, instructor-led courses, facilitator manuals, participant guides, and training aids for both modular asynchronous and synchronous training
  • Coordinate and perform outreach to conduct in-person and virtual training sessions and events
  • Provide on-going co-facilitation and instructional tech support for wellness, benefits and equity trainers
  • Develop collaborative and consultative relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Utilize adult learning principles and best practices to best fit the needs of learners and resourcefulness and curiosity to come up with creative solutions to deliver trainings
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new learning models and content design templates
  • Develop and manage work project plans, and provide regular status updates to training team and supervisor
  • Optimize the use of learning platforms that will ensure we can deliver training solutions at the required scale
  • Stay up to date with adult learning trends
  • Provide recommendations for changes to curriculum and/or facilitation technique
  • Manage the virtual and in-person class to provide an exceptional and equitable learning experience
  • Continuously improve facilitation skills based on taking part in professional development opportunities, and feedback from your supervisor and training team members

  • Proficient with online course design tools
  • Understanding of, and ability to use, various Learning Management Systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation and plain language delivery
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), multiple teams, and stakeholders soliciting/incorporating feedback to make necessary changes

Experience

  • Three to five years’ experience working to facilitate or teach adults in either a classroom or workshop setting, facilitating or training, online learning development, training methodologies, including content design and development
  • Demonstrated experience working for or within a public service, education or non-profit work environment
  • Experience creating learning content that is culturally competent, responsive and applicable to participants with a variety of experiences and cultural backgrounds
  • Experience delivering training on virtual platforms to include, but not limited to, Zoom, Google Suites and Microsoft Office suites
  • Experience working in a start-up environment a plus

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for supervising other staff members.
